A St Albans woman who works for Amazon has won a top prize at an awards ceremony celebrating women working in the logistics industry.

Caroline Milnes is a senior manager for fleet management and programs for the web retailer. At a ceremony at the Londoner Hotel in Leicester Square on Wednesday, June 28, she won the Leader award category at the Everywoman in Transport and Logistics Awards.

The awards aim to celebrate the contributions of women to the industry, highlighting success stories to try and inspire more females to get involved in transport and logistics works.

Caroline and her team, 50 per cent of whom are female, are responsible for more than 10,500 trailers and 1,050 diesel, CNG and electric trucks, including taking care of their specifications, maintenance and compliance issues.

These vehicles are involved in all manner of logistics work, delivering packages from the centres where they are made and the sorting centres straight to the delivery stations, ready for them to be picked up and taken to customers’ homes.

Prior to her work at Amazon, Caroline was a fleet manager at Tesco for 10 years.
