A growing youth football club based in Ruislip has secured a permanent home in the area thanks to funding from a new programme.
Wealdstone Youth FC was founded in 2008 and now has 49 youth teams for players aged four to 18, all playing at New Pond Playing Fields in Ruislip.
Now, thanks to a successful application by Hillingdon Council, the club has been accepted onto the Football Foundation’s Home Advantage Programme. This initiative helps grassroots football clubs across the UK to get long-term leases or licences on the sites where they play.
Wealdstone Youth will also have access to legal guidance from the foundation and the Football Association. As well as this, they can apply for up to £250,000 in funding to improve facilities on the site, including providing security fencing, catering cabins, storage units and more.
Spencer Dargue, chairman of Wealdstone Youth FC, said: “Securing the New Pond Playing Fields site for Wealdstone Youth FC will have a massively positive impact on the future of our club.
“It will aid our continued presence within the local community as a hub for local boys and girls to develop their footballing talent.”
