Little Chalfont Community Library has been recommended for funding to “support the operation of its thriving Community Café”.
The local library is operated and funded entirely by volunteers and businesses who live and work in Little Chalfont.
Alongside giving residents the opportunity to loan books, magazines and jigsaws, the team also run various community events, including film nights, children’s story time and a Community Café.
The café “aims to connect individuals in the community who may be new to the area, feeling lonely or experiencing bereavement”.
The Amersham & Villages Community Board has recommended to Buckinghamshire Council that the library is given funding for another year.
Speaking to CHALFONTS&GERRARDSCROSSnews, a spokesperson for the library said: “People come along for a chat, friendship and support in a warm and welcoming space.
“We have free tea/coffee and cakes and it has proven a great success, encouraging members of the community to come together.”
The café runs from 3pm to 4.30pm on Wednesdays.
