‘EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING’: Radlett Easter hunt cancelled after vandals target signage

Published on: 15th April 2025   |   By: Nik Allen   |   Category: Uncategorized

A nature trail due to be held in Fir Spring Wood has been cancelled because of vandalism.

Aldenham Parish Council (APC) explained that since the signs were installed on Thursday, April 3, vandals had pulled them out of the ground and scattered them within the wood, or even in the pond.

This happened on four consecutive nights, meaning APC staff had to spend the next mornings searching for and reinstalling the signs.

On Facebook, APC wrote: “This is extremely disappointing and the signs have now been removed and we have had to cancel the woodland hunt over the Easter weekend.”

The hunt was announced by APC chairman councillor Helen Jones in March. Participants would have followed clues to find eight woodland animals and received a prize at the end if successful. It was planned to be a permanent feature in the woods.

It was described as a fun woodland trail that would be an activity for young and old alike to bring them back to nature.
