Nine-year-old Chorleywood racer Ethan Lloyd kicked off his 2025 season with a standout performance at the Winter Warmer race.
On the weekend of January 25, Ethan competed in the high-speed MicroMax cadet class at Whilton Mill in Daventry.
During the qualifying round, Ethan tried to evade a slow driver which led him into the mud. Ethan jumped out of his kart and, after many attempts, managed to drag it back onto the track.
In the first race, conditions had improved slightly, but due to a set-up error with his tyres, Ethan slipped to 5th place.
However, he dominated the pre-final race, winning by nearly 10 seconds.
Despite the treacherous conditions, Ethan maintained his focus and held onto his position in the final race, securing the winner’s trophy and setting the fastest lap in the process.
Speaking to CHORLEYWOODnews, Ethan’s dad Daniel said: “This strong start to the 2025 season sets Ethan up for an exciting year ahead. He will continue practicing in preparation for a series of national events this spring.”
