This month, Berkhamsted News spoke to Berkhamsted Golf Club’s (BGC) new general manager Dan Blesovksy about having the opportunity to manage the prestigious club.
After taking over the role on Saturday, October 12, Dan set to work trying to better connect the club with the local community.
Dan is aiming to diversify the membership at the club, something he says BGC is working towards achieving through their women’s academy membership.
He said: “Membership is very male dominated; across the industry, only 11 per cent are women. We’re at about 18 per cent, and we’re having good success with the academy programme.”
With a clubhouse refurbishment on the way, Dan said the key for BGC is to balance appealing to new members and appeasing current ones.
He said: “You can keep the tradition of golf but still evolve. I like being at a club that wants to develop.
“We want to do our bit in the community, but our membership is our core.”
