Following a recent break-in, the Croxley community has rallied to support two local shops in their time of need.
On the morning of Friday, November 8, Herts Police were called to reports of an ongoing break-in at Croxley Supermarket.
Two suspects, both men aged in their 30s, were arrested on suspicion of burglary and assault of an emergency worker.
They had also broken through an internal wall into Farmhouse Pizza next door.
Facing “repairs and a loss to their business”, the local community has come together to help raise funds for “our friends on the end”.
Linda and the team from The Kitchen set up a GoFundMe page to support the small businesses.
Encouraging residents to donate, Linda shared: “With things as they are, no small business needs this additional stress, so I had an idea!
“Instead of buying yourself a coffee today, please donate the cost of a cappuccino to Farmhouse Pizza and our Friends on the End.”
With kind donations from more than 50 locals, the fundraiser reached six times the original target and raised an outstanding £596.
Linda shared: “This fundraiser has truly shown the very best of humanity and has been so heart-warming.”
Local councillor Chris Mitchell said: “Kim and his family, who run Croxley Supermarket, are hard-working members of our community, and it’s heart-breaking to see their livelihood damaged in this way.
“I want to extend my full support to them and to all the shopkeepers along this parade, who bring invaluable services to our residents.”
