A building at Watford Town Hall is set to be demolished as part of plans to revamp the Grade II listed building.
Watford Borough Council approved the application to demolish the one-storey temporary Terrapin Building, behind The Horns pub, on February 16.
The facilities located in the Terrapin Building will be relocated to the Town Hall, and the removal of the building will help to improve level access to the ground floor.
The Statement of Significance on the planning application concluded that the Terrapin Building “provides a negative contribution to the aesthetic value of the significance of Watford Town Hall, notably from the north and north-west”.
Work to demolish the building must start within three years and landscaping must be completed as laid out in the plan.
The Town Hall is currently being refurbished which will see the hall incorporate Watford Museum, a café, and retail and office suites alongside reimagined council offices.
