A Hemel Hempstead resident is excited to announce that actor Ricky Gervais selected her gift shop as one of the locations where to film his third series of After Life.
Michele Elliott owner of The House of Elliott in Hemel Old Town was really thrilled when one of the location managers for the show, currently being filmed in Hemel, approached her.
Speaking to HEMELnews, she said: “This happened about six weeks prior to the filming. I was excited and keen. I am a big fan of the After Life series and Ricky Gervais himself – not only his acting, writing, and producing skills but also his personal fight and support against cruelty to animals.
“I have watched all the episodes and thoroughly enjoy them – he handles a difficult situation i.e., death of his wife with real feeling and the series itself contains a lot of humour too. I loved the first two series and I’m sure the third series will be a real success too.
“I witnessed him (Ricky) to be very approachable, very pleasant to his staff and the general public and always willing to have selfies taken by his many fans.”
The House of Elliott has a wide range of gifts, jewellery, clothes and items for the home and garden and Michele has owned the shop for 20 years.
She added: “The scene filmed involved the purchase of a chess set from my shop window. The window dressing team for After Life had emptied my windows and created displays of various vintage items in my two windows.”
The series, which has fans from across the globe, is a comedy-drama series created, written, produced, directed by Ricky Gervais, who is also the star.
After Life follows the adventures of Tony, whose life is turned upside down after his wife dies from breast cancer.
