EXCITING EVENT: Bushey Chabad to host special drive-in Chanukah celebration

Published on: 7th December 2020   |   By: Geraint Roberts   |   Category: Uncategorized

On Sunday, December 13, Bushey Chabad will host a live drive-In Chanukah celebration called “The Great Bushey Drive In Chanukah Celebration”.

This will include a giant Menorah lighting, a Light Show performance, music, a huge dancing Dreidel, and each car will receive an individual Hanukkah Party box.

Hanukkah is typically one of the most celebrated festivals on the Jewish calendar. Traditionally celebrated with families, friends, and community getting together for a big celebration centred on the lighting of an eight branched candelabra called a Menorah, and by enjoying traditional Hanukkah foods which are fried in oil.

With the pandemic and everyone’s safety being of paramount importance, the Bushey Chabad Jewish Centre has been very busy planning for a different type of celebration this year.

Rabbi Yosef Sharfstein, director of the Bushey Chabad Jewish Centre, said: “Last year hundreds of locals had a fantastic time at our High Street Menorah lighting at Kanteen.

“This year things are different, but we’ve been working closely with the department of public health and we are very excited to share with the Bushey community what’s looking to be a safe and truly epic Chanukah experience.”

The Bushey Public Chanukah celebration is part of the worldwide Hanukkah campaign initiated by Chabad in the 1970s, which has seen public celebrations taking place annually in over 15,000 locations in more than 100 countries around the globe, including in front of landmarks such as Trafalgar Square, the White House, the Eiffel Tower, and the Kremlin, sharing the message of tolerance and individual freedom embodied in the story of Chanukah, with all.
