The importance of equal opportunities in sports is a message many people want to share, but one a Croxley Danes student has vibrantly captured in a flag design.
On Tuesday, May 20, the school shared that Year 7 student Inu won first place in the ‘Equal Play’ competition held by Riverside Shopping Centre in Hemel Hempstead, which aimed to celebrate inclusivity in sport.
Inspired by Paralympics GB, the initiative advocates for equal access to sport in schools for all children.
Inu’s winning flag showcased athletes of all abilities and impressed judges with its powerful representation of equal opportunity.
For winning the competition, the shopping centre presented her with a £1,000 cheque for Croxley Danes, which will go towards enhancing inclusive PE provision. Inu also received a prize bundle that included a £50 H&M voucher.
Mr Murphey, head of PE at Croxley Danes said: “The prize will allow us to have targeted PE SEN support through the Activity Alliance, and we will then look to increase and improve our PE resources to continue our hard work in ensuring lessons are adaptable and accessible for all. The impact this will have will be amazing!”
Her design will soon be on display at River Shopping Centre for the public to enjoy.
