EQUAL EXPERIENCES: Inclusive clubbing party in Bushey returns to in person events

Published on: 12th October 2021   |   By: Lizzie Ellis   |   Category: Uncategorized

A group of volunteers who run an inclusive and accessible club night in Bushey for disabled and non-disabled people are delighted to be returning to in-person events, following almost two years of online events due to the pandemic.

The UV Inclusive Clubbing Event, supported by Silverbirch Dance Company, will return to in-person events on Thursday, November 11 at Metropolitan Bushey on Aldenham Road from 7pm.

The party is held in a safe accessible venue with a friendly and accepting atmosphere where people with and without disabilities can meet and socialise.

Silverbirch Trustee and UV volunteer Mary Westgate said: “A lot of our attendees have spent time shielding so it’s fantastic the events can now return to in person.

“The team are all amazing. Many are young people who have stuck with it for 10 years, arranging events, helping to identify themes, organising health checks and raising money.”

The UV Inclusive Club Night first started back in 2006 to combat two key issues – mainstream clubs lack accessibility and unadventurous and inauthentic social events hosted by disabled organisations. The aim of the UV inclusive clubbing event is to offer everyone a clubbing experience equal to any other venue with professional DJs and production.

Tickets for the first UV event back are available for £6. For more information search ‘UV inclusive club night’ on Facebook or visit www.silverbirchdance.com/project/uv-inclusive-club-night
