A brother and sister from Croxley Green have both been selected to represent Hertfordshire in the National Cross Country Championships.

Adam and Lauren Wood are members of Watford Harrier’s running club based at Woodside Stadium.

Adam, who is 13 and attends Rickmansworth School, has been selected to represent Hertfordshire for the National Inter-Counties Club Championships and his sister Lauren, who is 11 and goes to Little Green Junior School, has been selected to represent the county for the National Primary Cross Country Championships. Both events will be held in March in Loughborough.

The children have been supported and encouraged by their games teachers; Mr Neighbour at Little Green Junior School and Mr Gunn at Rickmansworth School.

Ross Connor, junior cross country team manager at Watford Harriers, said: “Being called to represent Herts at the Nationals is testament to the hard work that the children have put in.

“There is also an exciting opportunity coming up for budding athletes: on the March 30 we have the Junior Challenge at Cassiobury Park for under 14s. From this, we will hand pick athletes to join our Endurance Academy.”
