Legendary Sunday League club Berkhamsted Tornadoes FC are inviting players from over the past five decades to reunite as the end of their 50th season approaches.
The Tornadoes are hoping that as many of the hundreds of local ex-players come to Berkhamsted FC’s Broadwater Stadium on Easter Sunday, April 12, to celebrate the end of the club’s 50th year in the Berkhamsted Sunday Football League (BSFL).
The classic club, which played its first match on September 20, 1970, has already had 100 people agree to participate, several of whom are players from the first ever game.
The team pictured in the photograph above is from 1974.
The Tornadoes are hoping that some players who they’ve not been able to contact will see this article prior to the event and get in touch with club secretary, Phil Hobbs.
As well as old players, they’re also inviting old opponents, referees, league officials etc. to attend and to make it a celebration of true grass roots football.
There will be a game between their current team against a team of previous players at 2pm, adjourning to the bar afterwards where old photos, shirts and other memorabilia will be on display to help bring back some old memories.
For further details, contact secretary Phil Hobbs on 07963 120128 or direct@nildram.co.uk
