Electric Umbrella, a charity rock band based in Watford, have narrowly missed out on progressing to the Britain’s Got Talent Final after yesterday’s semi-final.
The band were one of eight acts that performed on the night. Bruno Tonioli gave his Golden Buzzer to opera singer Jasmine Rice, forcing the charity to win the public vote if they wanted to see the final.
Unfortunately, despite performing a highly impressive original song, ‘Try Smiling’, the group came second in the public vote.
Shortly after their exit, Watford MP Matt Turmaine wrote on Facebook: “Well done Electric Umbrella! Sorry you didn’t get through but you brought us all such joy and that is a victory! We loved you, you loved you, Simon loved you! Keep smiling, keep singing and be proud of the amazing work you have done!”
Meanwhile, Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor wrote: “Thank you Electric Umbrella! Another fantastic performance on Britain’s Got Talent. We are so proud of you. Thank you for everything you do in our community and for what you stand for. It was fantastic to see your talented performers and joyful, inclusive message on the national stage. We really do need to try smiling.”
