There is no better time to enjoy the abundance of nature in Chorleywood than during the spring season as the weather starts to warm up.
Friends of Carpenters Wood is a group that encourages residents to enjoy one of the few designated ancient woodlands in the UK, Carpenters Wood. The woodland is transformed into a sea of bluebells during the spring, and a carpet of orange and gold in the autumn.
A spokesperson for the group said: “Our Friends group is always looking for new members to join our enthusiastic team of volunteers.
“We are supported by Three Rivers District Council and the Countryside Management Service who provide training in woodland management, aimed at improving access for users, keeping the woodland in good shape, and maintaining this wonderful resource for future generations.
“Don’t worry if you are not super-fit or can’t come every session! Our volunteers come when they can and do only what they can manage. All tools are provided along with protective wear and training.”
The group meet twice a month on Thursday mornings. To find out more about the group, please visit www.carpenterswood.com
