Eagles flying high after recent success

A youth football team from Abbots Langley are celebrating after some notable successes in the last few weeks.

Evergreen Eagles are in Group Red of the West Herts Youth League which is the top division out of 12 other groups in the Under 10’s age bracket.

At the end of May, the boys saw off strong competition from over 70 teams from across West Herts to lift the West Herts U10s Annual Trophy at the end of May, beating Berkhamsted Raiders Red 3-1 in the final.

To add to this major success they competed in a further two open tournaments in early June. After finishing runners up in the St Albans Annual Cup to a team from Hertford, the team shrugged off the disappointment to win the Sun Sports Knock Out Trophy beating Sun Sports Yellow U10s 2-0 in the final with goals from Louis Fry-Hall and Jake Simpson.

Louis’s grandad Edward watches the team every week and praised all involved. His son Sam is manager.

Edward said: “They confirmed how good they are by winning the Open Trophy. The whole team are brilliant. They’ve really done well and there’s a chance some might be picked for academies.
