Northwood & Ruislip United Synagogue has once again taken part in a successful Mitzvah Day.
Mitzvah Day is a Jewish-led day of social action that brings together thousands of people of all faiths and ages to make a difference in their community.
Like last year, the synagogue’s main project this Mitzvah Day, held on Sunday, November 24, was to address hunger, poverty and unemployment.
The synagogue donated home-grown vegetables, tinned and dried goods, and toiletries to Elim Church in Watford. These will be used for the church’s Manna Food Bank project and its Oasis Lunch for the Homeless programme.
Meanwhile, synagogue members Sue Morgan and Ingrid Segal organised a special Mitzvah Day Tea and Fun afternoon at the Jewish Family Centre in Temple Fortune.
Tea was provided for single parents and their children as well a bouncy castle, popcorn, candyfloss and an entertainer.
Ingrid said: “Each year, we extend out Mitzvah Day dreams and we know that next year will be the same.”
