When Ben Bunning got mixed up in a fight at a Rickmansworth pub, it was to prove costly.
Officers arrived to speak to him and discovered £780 worth of cannabis on him.
His phone was also examined and on it officers found drug dealing text messages and “promotional” text messages he had sent out letting people know what deals he could do.
As a result, he appeared at St Albans Crown Court yesterday (Wednesday) to plead guilty to possessing cannabis with intent to supply.
The court was told the 36-year-old, of no fixed address, had a lengthy criminal record and had repeatedly failed to comply with court orders.
Judge Michael Kay QC was told that in the last month Bunning had become a dad for the first time.
The court was told that Bunning had been dealing cannabis to fund his own habit when he was arrested.
Bunning told the judge from the dock of the court “I have started to grow up in the last year.”
The judge jailed him for 12 months.
