Partners have worked together to secure a full closure order on a Garston flat linked to drug activity after more than 50 wraps of heroin were seized from the address.
Police forced entry to the Abbey View property in Garsmouth Way on Tuesday, December 12, and recovered the class A drugs, along with cannabis, £1,300 in cash and a mobile phone.
Three men from Watford – aged 19, 21 and 22 – were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply both class A (heroin) and class B (cannabis) drugs. They have been released on conditional bail while police enquiries continue.
The closure order – granted in court yesterday (Thursday, December 14) – means the flat is off-limits for three months, so residents affected by the anti-social behaviour and criminal activity will have much-needed respite while police and partners work on a permanent solution.
This is the second closure order secured by the Watford Community Safety Partnership (CSP) in as many weeks. The first order, secured at the end of last month, involved a flat in Leavesden Road after two people were arrested during a drugs warrant.
Inspector Dan Jones, who leads the Watford Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “This closure order is the second we have achieved in as many weeks, and shows our commitment to tackling the supply of controlled drugs in our town.
“This result is thanks to work by the Safer Neighbourhood Team, our Operation Scorpion team, Watford’s Community Safety Unit and wider CSP partners.
“Rest assured we are always working behind the scenes to make Watford a safer place to live, by targeting those whose actions can make others’ lives a misery.”
