DRINK UP: Female-focused breweries join together for International Women’s Day

Published on: 15th March 2022   |   By: Bryn Holmes   |   Category: Uncategorized

Two local breweries have made a special collaboration on a new drink made at Woodoaks Farm to commemorate International Women’s Day on March 8.

Creative Juices Brewing Company, based at the farm near to Rickmansworth, and the Mad Yank Brewery, who call nearby Pinner their home, are both businesses that have a healthy female presence, a growing shift in the craft beer industry.

In tandem with International Women’s Day, the two companies celebrated International Women’s Collaboration Brew Day, an event founded in 2013 to allow women working in the industry to network and join up.

Together at Woodoaks Farm, the teams brewed a special new pale ale titled ‘Swinging On Sunbeams’, which will be released at the beginning of May this year. Local artist Hannah Symonds has also designed the drink’s label artwork, with many more female bloggers and photographers there blogging the day’s events.

Speaking about the significance of the day, Creative Juices Taproom Manager Kate Arding said: “We’re not shouting at the men on International Women’s Day, we’re shouting about being women. It’s a day to remind everyone how far we have come, but also how far we have still got to go.”

“Unfortunately, in 2022 we are still living in a world where gender pay gaps exists, there is a lack of female leadership, and violence against women is a real problem. There has never been more need to celebrate being a woman, but also highlight these inequalities.”
