A road traffic collision in Stanmore resulted in the lucky escape of four passengers.

In the early hours on Saturday, December 4, police officers were called to a single car road traffic collision to the scene on Common Road.

The incident saw a car leave the road and collide into trees.

The vehicle was discovered with its bonnet and wind screen completely crushed.

Other parts of the vehicle including a wheel and car body parts had become separated from the vehicle and were seen metres away.

Harrow MPS spokesperson said: “All four occupants of the vehicle were lucky to walk away with only minor injuries.”

The driver was arrested for drink driving and given street bail in the hospital to return to police later that week.

London fire brigade spokesperson said: “The occupants were able to get out of the car themselves. Two fire engines and around 10 firefighters from Stanmore Fire Station attended the incident.

“The incident was over for us by 2.19am.”
