Chalfont St Peter residents took to social media to express their worries over the closure of Chalfont Pool.
They believe Buckinghamshire Council should invest in the local swimming pool as it is great for kids fitness.
We spoke to a spokesperson from Buckinghamshire Council who said: “Chalfont Pool is closed due to significant structural damage, discovered during the recent works at the centre, which means the pool cannot currently hold water.
“We are therefore undertaking a full replacement of the pool, and will keep residents updated on reopening dates once confirmed.”
Chalfont Leisure Centre and Chesham Leisure Centre benefitted from a £4.5 million refurbishment programme and members will see a whole host of improvements at their centres.
The wider facilities at Chalfont Leisure Centre will reopen as soon as possible once lockdown restrictions are lifted, including the newly refurbished and much improved gym and immersive workout and group fitness studios.
Commenting on the new and improved facilities, Steve Salwa, contract manager at Everyone Active, said: “We wanted to offer our local communities an industry-leading fitness experience, with captivating training studios, high-tech equipment and upgraded studios so we are really proud of the finished results and can’t wait to welcome everyone back.
“We would like to reassure everyone that we will be operating strict safety measures throughout our centres and encourage everyone to read through the guidance on our website in advance of their visit so we can all do our part to keep each other safe.”
Until the pool at Chalfont reopens, customers can use the Chiltern Pools in Amersham or Chesham Leisure Centre; once they can reopen according to government instructions.
