KICKED OUT: Garston community pre-school and nursery could close after eviction from church

A Garston pre-school and nursery is likely to close after 16 years of serving the community after their current premises have told them to go.

Fingerprints Pre-School and Nursery have been based at the Garston Community Church since they were founded in September 2005. But now, after having been told to find new premises by July of this year, their future looks uncertain.

In a statement sent to GARSTONnews, senior manager Sarah-Jo Barnes, manager Florence Mundee and the rest of the team had this to say about the situation with the church:

“Our Chairman, Roy Young, was the Pastor at the church, and he was instrumental in setting up the pre-school, and was involved in supporting us right up until he passed away in May 2021.

“That same day the new leaders of the church arranged a meeting with us, and we were devastated when they gave us notice to leave by July this year, citing that they wanted to use the building for other purposes.

“We thought we would be able to find alternative premises, and have spent the last 10 months searching, but we have now come to the end of all our leads so it looks like Fingerprints Garston will close permanently in July.

“We would be delighted if somewhere local became available for us, but otherwise it will be a very sad goodbye from all of us at Fingerprints.”
