A dishonest grandmother from Chalfont St Peter who stole £65,000 from the supermarket where she worked has been jailed for 18 months.

Janet Eggleton, 53, was sentenced to 18 months in prison for defrauding the Bracknell Waitrose over a two-and-a-half-year period, which carried on until 2014.

The grandmother from Chalfont St Peter was jailed on Thursday, December 20, after pleading guilty to fraud following an investigation.

Eggleton had been on various holidays, allegedly with the money she had illegally obtained while an employee at Waitrose.

She had worked in the Bracknell cash office department of the supermarket chain where she abused her position to regularly steal vast sums of money.

The light fingered granny used the cash she stole to fund a six month sabbatical in 2014 where she visited destinations such as San Francisco, New Zealand and China.

During the police investigation Eggleton played down the significance of her crime claiming that Waitrose could afford what would be to them, a small amount.
