DO YOU REMEMBER: Chalfont St Giles village 20 years in the past

Published on: 9th May 2023   |   By: Bryn Holmes   |   Category: Uncategorized

This photograph comes from 2003 and depicts the High Street in Chalfont St Giles.

It was sent in by 94-year-old Hatch End resident Mike Barnard, with his late wife Jill shown standing outside the Reading Room of Chalfont St Giles Parish Church. The photo was taken on a day trip to the town.

While many of the shops on the right side of the picture have gone through many changes in the intervening 20 years, some things still remain the same, such as the aforementioned Reading Room, the old British Telecom phone box and The Feathers pub.

Do you have any historic photographs of The Chalfonts or Gerrards Cross? If so, please send them to us at newsdesk@mynewsmag.co.uk and they could feature in a future edition.
