Nominations open for Watford’s annual civic awards Every day in Watford, people are changing the lives of others and performing amazing feats for themselves and the town. These actions often go unrewarded but you can change this by nominating one of these outstanding individuals, groups or businesses for an Audentior Award. The Audentior annual civic awards, now in their 12th year, are the elected eayor’s special way of celebrating local people who go above and beyond and who have made an impressive personal achievement. The awards ceremony is a glittering celebration that takes place at Watford Colosseum. Mayor Dorothy Thornhill said: “These civic awards recognise hard work, dedication and personal achievement. Watford has countless people who regularly do wonderful things for the community – be it as a carer, a volunteer, business person or neighbour. These people speak volumes for Watford and have really put the town on the map. “We want to reward these fine people but this year we want to show our appreciation to an even wider group of people. There is now a special emphasis on the achievements of disabled people and those who work to support disabled people, as well as sporting achievement. Help us to say thank you by nominating a person or group now.” How to nominate All you need to do is complete a simple online form by Tuesday July 7 2015: The award categories are: The Mayor’s Award The Chairman’s Award for Volunteer of the Year Charitable Group Award The Lewington Price Disability Award Mayor’s Sporting Achievement Award – Individual Mayor’s Sporting Achievement Award – Group The Lewington Price Disability Award’s focus has been extended. Dorothy Thornhill also wishes to recognise effort and achievement of individuals or groups, either with a disability or working to help disabled people. This can apply to clubs, charities or a workplace. The two new Sporting Achievement Awards recognise outstanding sporting achievement by a group, club or individual in Watford. These categories apply to all ages but success by younger individuals is especially welcomed.
