DÉJÀ VU: Watford set to sack Quique Sanchez Flores today

Published on: 1st December 2019   |   By: News Desk   |   Category: Watford FC

News coming out of Vicarage Road this morning suggests that Watford bosses will relieve Quique Sanchez Flores of his duties later today.

After last night’s disappointing result after leading for the majority of the game and the side’s poor run of form in the Premier League this season, Flores has struggled to motivate the team who have only won one out of 10 leagues games since he took over from Javi Gracia.

With Watford sitting bottom of the Premier League with only eight points from 14 games, it looks like Sanchez Flores’ time is up in his return to the club which will be welcomed by some fans.

According to The Athletic, the Spaniard will attend a meeting today at the clubs training ground where he will be told of the news.

Since taking over from Gracia, who took the Hornets on an unforgettable FA Cup run last season, Sanchez Flores has clearly conflicted opinions due to him being unable to turn the clubs poor start to the season around.

After many games, Vicarage Road has been left echoing with boos from the home fans who have even chanted “You don’t know what you’re doing” after substitutions made by the manager which has clearly been heard by club bosses who have seemingly lost patience with the head coach.

His appointment has not only caused unrest between the fans but has reportedly leaked into the dressing room with some squad members welcoming his dismissal.

After less than three months since sacking Gracia, Hornets’ fans must again prepare themselves for another replacement with former Brighton manager Chris Hughton leading the race according to the bookies.

Also in the race for the job is Mark Hughes, Alan Pardew, David Moyes, Sam Allardyce and Mikel Arteta.

Watford bosses have a reputation for not wasting any time when sacking their manager with Sanchez Flores being announced 30 minutes after they sacked Gracia.

This in the eyes of every Hornet will not be a decision they take lightly as they could potentially be facing life in the Championship next season if things don’t turn around.

More to follow.
