A man has been arrested and charged following a burglary in Bushey.
A home in Reddings Avenue was broken into and the property searched on the afternoon of Saturday, March 4. Nothing was taken.
Following enquiries, Shane Brady, 35, of London, was arrested and subsequently charged with:
- Four counts of conspiracy to commit burglary – these relate to three offences in the North-West London area and one in Bushey.
- Causing serious injury by dangerous driving – this relates to an incident where officers attempted to stop Brady and he allegedly failed to stop, injuring a police officer, who suffered a fractured elbow, while doing so.
Brady appeared at Highbury Magistrates’ Court where he was remanded into custody to await trial.
Detective Constable Barnaby Goding said: “We know that burglary is a concern for residents in Bushey and I hope that this arrest reassures the public that we are working hard to identify and arrest suspects when offences occur.
“As this investigation demonstrates, we also work with neighbouring police forces, such as the Met, to identify those who may be travelling into the county to commit crimes.
“We’re also asking residents to do their bit to make it harder for criminals to operate in Hertsmere, such as ensuring your windows and doors are properly locked, using timer switches to light up your home when you’re out at night, and reviewing your garden security.”
