A father and son duo from Stanmore are about to embark on a cycle ride through Europe with a difference in June.
Laurence and his son Jeremy, who is severely disabled, will ride through Europe to celebrate their adventurous spirit that they share.
The challenge, which will include around 50 miles cycling a day will take them through Croatia, Hungary and Slovenia.
The pair hope to raise £6,800 for Norwood, which is the largest Jewish charity in the UK supporting vulnerable children and their families, children with special educational needs and people with learning disabilities.
In a blog on the pairs’ donation page, Jeremy said: “Norwood is important to me because they look after me in my home in Woodcock Dell, where I’ve been since I moved out of my mum and dad’s house in February 2011.
“It will probably be my dad doing most of the pedalling through Europe, while I sit in the front on my special duet bike. The bike is really neat. It’s a wheelchair-bike combo that separates into two bits and clips back together again. I used to take my dad out in it when I lived with mum, him and my three sisters.
“We used to go through the forests in it and I remember whizzing down the hill at high speed laughing my chops off.”
Laurence is no stranger to epic challenges having successfully taken on a 540-mile walk along the Pyrenees to raise money for the Norwood home that cares for his son, Jeremy
