A six-year-old girl, Jude Hogan-Matthews, from Berkhamsted has been raising the spirits of locals during the lockdown period by making posters featuring a different joke every day.
On a popular walking route on Shootersway, Jude puts her joke on a fence so that people passing by can have their spirits lifted.
Jude started this with her parents on April 9 and even have their own Instagram account so that people from afar can also enjoy the jokes.
Speaking to BerkhamstedNews, Jude’s father, Oliver said: “At the start of the lockdown period, Jude asked us if people would be scared and anxious during these times and she wondered what she could do to help.
“We all came up with the idea of trying to make people smile, and at the bottom of our garden there’s a footpath where people have been making the most of for their daily exercises, so it’s a great place for people to see the jokes.”
It’s not just the people of Berkhamsted that the jokes are brightening up their days, someone from Texas in the USA even got in touch with the family saying how her father walks past the jokes every day and sends her a picture of them.
Oliver continued: “We’re going to keep doing them for as long as we can. It gives us all something to do and look forward to,
“Jude is missing her friends from school, but she’s doing just fine otherwise. Although she sometimes forgets that she’s still in school during the day!”
