Last month, former chair of the Pinner Association Julie Waller visited Harrow Cycle Hub to find out more about the work that the club does in teaching residents how to cycle.
Past chair Julie was invited to a session run by Harrow Cycle Hub back in December. This followed the Pinner Association’s donation of £1,000 to the charity to fund a specially adapted Fun2Go bike to help those with special needs learn to ride.
Julie had the opportunity to speak to the parents of the youngsters who attend the club and even had a go on the bike. The general consensus was that as well as encouraging them to exercise, being able to cycle on their own has increased the riders’ confidence. For some of the youngsters, it is their only form of exercise and something they look forward to on a weekly basis.
She said: “Having visited the Harrow Cycle Hub before, I know how valuable these sessions are to the youngsters that take part.”
