Crystal Palace 1-2 Watford

Published on: 12th January 2019   |   By: Jake Levison   |   Category: Watford FC

A great comeback at Selhurst Park as two second half goals secured all three points for the Hornets.

Goals scored by Cathcart and Tom Cleverley cemented the win and sees Watford climb to seventh in the table behind Man United.

The Hornets started the game off brightly after the woodwork was struck twice in a matter of seconds by Deulofeu’s effort rebounding off the post to Pereyra who’s follow up hit the same post.

Will Hughes didn’t look happy after he was subbed off by Gracia for Sema after 19 minutes.

Watford saw themselves going into the break 1-0 down with an unfortunate Cathcart own goal. An almighty goalmouth scramble saw Doucoure clear the ball against him and into his own net.

Two big chances were not finished by Wilfred Zaha which Watford soon took advantage of with Cathcart making up for his earlier own goal by rising highest and heading the ball into the Palace net.

A substitution from Watford saw Tom Cleverley come onto the field and straight into the action. The substitute found himself on the scoresheet after being on the field for six minutes with his volley being buried into the top corner.

That’s his first goal since December 2017 and what a great goal it was, as it sealed the much needed three points for Watford.

Gracia will be looking at taking their form into their next game is at home against Burnley on Saturday 19th.
