Bushey Food bank says thank you for the Christmas gifts

Published on: 11th January 2019   |   By: Jason Allen   |   Category: Uncategorized

The Red Trust Bushey, who appealed for Christmas goods for their food bank, have thanked MyBusheyNews readers for their help and donations.

Jennie Crawley, food bank manager, said: “It was a real treat to be able to give out the items, so that people could celebrate Christmas in the way that many of us take for granted.”

2019 progress has since been halted as The Red Trust is finding more people struggling, with increased numbers asking for help.

Alison Saunders, Fundraising and Communications Officer, said: “It is challenging to re-stock the food bank week by week, especially with the most nutritious essentials such as meat and fruit.

“If every reader of MyBusheyNews donated one extra item in their shopping every week, there would be plenty for everyone who needs a helping hand.”

Donations can be dropped off at St James’ Church House (by the duck pond), Bushey Baptist Church, Sacred Heart, or St Andrew’s and St Peter’s churches in Bushey Heath, as well as Holy Trinity in North Bushey.
