A pensioner from Garston was left devastated after a fox got into her garden through a damaged fence and killed her dog.
The incident, which happened in Kytes Drive on May 14, has led to the family hitting out at property company Anchor Homes, saying they were aware of the damaged fence but took no action.
The resident’s granddaughter Chynna Shaw explained that Anchor Homes had been contacted “weekly” for three months about the fence.
She said: “Although this is absolutely tragic, it could have been a lot worse if this was a child in the garden.”
The dog was taken to the vet after the attack, but sadly passed away.
Some residents have also claimed the lack of maintenance is due to Anchor Homes planning to move families out and demolish part of the site.
Emma Martin, Anchor Homes’ operations manager for Kytes Drive, said: “We are sorry for the resident’s loss and extend our condolences at this difficult time.
“We are looking into the circumstances of the matter and are supporting the resident.”
