Staff and students at a Chorleywood school were left in shock after a surprise visit by a famous former student. Singer-songwriter, Jack Garratt, met up with director of music, Anna Stevens, when he returned to his former school, St Clement Danes recently. The 24-year-old musician, who was recently awarded the prestigious BBC title, Sound of 2016, seemed to enjoy revisiting his musical haunts, checking out the new instruments and learning about how the ‘Jack Hat’ is used as a motivational tool in music lessons. A school spokesperson said: “Students were quietly awestruck to have him interrupting their classes and there was an unusually high volume of traffic going backwards and forwards past the music office at break once word got around of his visit. “We were thrilled to be able to welcome him back to St Clement Danes and delighted that, on the back of his many recent accolades and album launch, he is performing to sell-out crowds across the world. We hope to see him again soon and wish him continuing success in his musical career.”
