Herts Police are investigating an attempted distraction theft where an elderly woman nearly had her bank card stolen at a local supermarket.
Police received a report of theft at Sainsbury’s in Apsley, at 1.10pm on Saturday, January 11.
The victim, a woman in her 60s, was using the ATM outside the supermarket on London Road when she was approached by a man.
He told her he had lost his debit card before taking the victim’s card from the ATM slot and walking off.
The victim challenged him and he dropped her card before leaving. He is described as an Asian male wearing all-black clothing.
Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police quoting 41/3103/20.
