Croxley’s Muay Thai boxing superstar Ellie Harber has reached new heights after winning her most recent fight, her first as a semi-professional.
At the Harrow leisure centre last weekend, during the Roar Combat League’s Muay Thai boxing event, the 17 year old bruiser took on a challenging opponent: Turkish competitor Sud Nur Basanci, the current International Federation of Muay Thai Associations world champion.
Across five rounds, both the girls fought valiantly in a relatively even bout. But in the end, despite a split decision, it was Ellie who was able to claim an important victory, much to the delight of her considerable home support.
CROXLEYnews caught up with Ellie just after her win to ask her about her thoughts on the fight, and what the future holds for her.
She said: “I feel really good. It’s so good to get that fight in, it’s been my hardest fight I’d say. I definetely took a step up, what with it being first semi-pro fight.
“As for the future, I’m looking forward to getting some more fights in, hopefully see what’s next. Hopefully, maybe winning a championship!”
Ellie’s trips and bouts are all self-funded, so she’s currently looking for support from the Croxley community to help her pursue her sporting career. To donate, visit her fundraiser.
She’s also looking for new sponsors to join Careys of London and King Tape. For those interested in supporting this fantastic local athlete, contact Emma Isichei at emmaisichei@hotmail.com
