The accident and emergency department at Watford General Hospital was evacuated yesterday (November 21) after a flood.
Emergency services were on the scene to deal with the situation, which was caused by a burst pipe. Thankfully, no one was injured, but patients and staff were evacuated.
A statement posted on the West Herts Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust website yesterday states: “We have declared a critical incident due to a flood in our emergency department caused by a burst water pipe.
“Our patients and staff are safe but unfortunately there will be long waits for care as a result.”
This morning (November 22), a spokesperson for the trust confirmed to Watford News that the critical incident had now been stood down.
