CREATIVE KID: Bushey schoolgirl creates portrait of His Majesty in honour of coronation

Published on: 15th May 2023   |   By: Nik Allen   |   Category: Uncategorized

A nine year old from Bushey has found a special way to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III, by creating a piece of art of the King himself.

Keen artist Macie Belasco decided to create the oversized piece of art as her own tribute to the new king.

We previously reported about Macie in the June 2022 edition of BUSHEYNEWS, after she created a portrait of the late Queen Elizabeth II to mark the Platinum Jubilee.

Measuring 150cm x 100cm, Macie has used acrylic paint for the King’s portrait. Around the monarch, she has formed a Union Jack pattern using cuttings from magazines, which are about the King throughout his life. At the base of the canvas is a gold leaf London skyline.

Macie was delighted to share her artwork at a local coronation party.

She said: “I was very proud to have my artwork of King Charles on display at the Radlett party in Phillimore Recreation Ground. Lots of people had photographs with it and the Deputy Lieutenant of Hertfordshire and councillor Helen Jones loved it!

“I hope King Charles gets to see the photographs of it that I mailed to him!”

Macie previously received a message of thanks from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and she is hoping to receive another about her portrait of King Charles III.
