A Radlett resident has been presented with a Civic Award from Hertsmere Borough Council for her volunteering work.
Rosamund Gray has worked with local charities and organisations for almost five decades, including the Good Neighbour group, the Platt Foundation and the Radlett Society.
Nominator John Whiting CBE said: “She’s been heavily involved with local societies and local activities. In terms of what she’s done for Radlett, it’s almost easier to list the things that she hasn’t done.
“Town twinning has been a particular interest of hers, as well as Good Neighbours, helping with the golf club, the tennis club and of course, the Radlett Society and the Green Belt Association, where I have worked with her for quite a few years now. That has always clearly been a passion of hers. Not through any sense of self, but because she really believes in building a better place to live and exist in.”
Rosamund said: “From the time that we came here, I volunteer in everything that the family have been involved in. I involved myself with Cubs and Scouts and then moved onto the societies and groups.
“When we came to Radlett in 1975, within the first year, the vicar invited me to become a governor of a local school. I went from governor to vice chairman to acting chairman to chairman.
“One of the important things I’ve done in the village is being on the Platt Foundation. It’s a foundation run by Aldenham School and they use the interest on funds to support local children. I haven’t made many sacrifices because I’ve just enjoyed joining in.”
