A St Albans runner has taken a new approach to running marathons, by choosing to take on the challenge backwards.
Hosein ‘Khan’ Khanzadeh, who is a volunteer at St Albans Cathedral and is often spotted taking part in the St Albans parkrun, took on the London and Milton Keynes marathons by running both routes backwards.
Through this feat, he has raised nearly £2,500 for the Meningitis Research Foundation.
A spokesperson for St Albans Cathedral said: “Huge congratulations from our cathedral congregation to Khan who ran the London Marathon. Not only did he finish in a very respectable time of four hours and 46 minutes – he ran the whole thing backwards!
“Well done, Khan, for a great effort, you crazy man!”
A spokesperson for St Albans parkrun said: “Congratulations to Khan who many of you will have seen running backwards at our parkrun.
“He recently completed both London and Milton Keynes marathons backwards, raising over £2,400 for Meningitis Research Foundation, and wanted to thank all of you for your support. Well done, Khan!”
