A Croxley homeowner has been fined thousands of pounds after failing to remove a raised terrace which “was unacceptably overlooking neighbouring properties”.
Three Rivers District Council (TRDC) issued an enforcement notice to Jermain Morrison after he failed to cooperate.
Morrison raised his patio in Oakleigh Drive without planning permission. He was required to remove the works but failed to comply with the enforcement notice.
At St Albans Magistrates’ Court, Morrison was found guilty and fined £750 with costs of £1,720 awarded to the council and a victim surcharge of £380.
Councillor Stephen Giles-Medhurst, Leader of TRDC, said: “The owner made his thoughts clear early on and maintained his innocence until the end. It is hoped that this case acts as a warning to those that do not wish to engage with planning officers.”
TRDC will now consider its next steps to ensure the raised patio is removed.
