The British Union Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church (BUC) in Stanborough Park joined thousands of other BUC pathfinders on a summer camping trip in Sopron, Hungary, on Tuesday, July 25.
The Trans-European Division (TED) Youth Department organises the five-yearly trip. It welcomes thousands of BUC pathfinders from churches and communities across 22 different countries, for a whole week of learning practical skills.
BUC Youth and Pathfinder Director Pastor Kevin Johns has said that this year’s theme is ‘Count me in’, where young people will learn skills such as map and compass work, camp craft, stars, pioneering, rope work, campfires and outdoor cooking, nature studies, health and fitness and serving the local community.
The aim is for the children to feel ‘counted in’ as one of God’s people, while also learning vital life and social skills.
Pastor Johns said: “We have been preparing for this trip by working with our local counsellors and leaders to prepare our young people adequately for this life-enhancing adventure.”
