Not many people can say they have appeared on their favourite game show twice, but Watford and Bushey Bridge Club member Suzanne Anisfeld has joined that elusive club.
Suzanne first appeared on Countdown in 2011, and made her second appearance in October last year, with the show airing on Tuesday, January 21.
Speaking to Watford news, Suzanne said: “I don’t think I was nervous. I’ve done it before, so I knew what to expect. It was very fun! I just want to win the iconic Countdown teapot!”
The avid bridge player lost out on first place back in 2011 by just two points and explained that she had to wait 10 years before she could reapply.
Since her first appearance, Suzanne has released her debut novel, All Hands on Deck: Tales from the Table, detailing some of the interesting stories from her bridge career.
A couple of years ago, Suzanne bumped into Countdown host Rachel Riley MBE, who encouraged her to reapply.
Despite an impressive game on her second attempt, Suzanne lost out on the coveted top spot, this time by just one point. She joked that it may be “third time lucky” in 10 years when she can reapply.
She continued: “It’s aggravating to lose by one point, but it’s always fun!”
When asked how she prepares, Suzanne said: “I watched lots of episodes to prepare, and being a bridge player must help with the numbers.”
Suzanne has become a bit of a local celebrity around the area, explaining that she had received messages from people she hadn’t spoken to in years after they saw her on TV.
