Three Rivers District Council (TRDC) has resolved to grant planning permission for a new film hub, despite officers recommending refusal.
The plans would see the Grade II* listed Langleybury Mansion turned into a new film hub, as well as moving Langleybury Children’s Farm, with a new car park to be shared with St Paul’s Primary and Nursery School.
The proposal, which was made by Ralph Trustees Limited which also owns The Grove, also set out to demolish buildings, build sound stages, and install a new training facility for students in the film industry.
Officers recommended refusal because it was not seen as appropriate development on the green belt.
Chorleywood North and Sarratt district councillor Ciaran Reed said: “The proposals will bring important employment opportunities and increase public access to the parkland and Langleybury Mansion, but the original application missed some opportunities I felt needed to be taken.
“I met with the owners of The Grove and raised concerns about the development of the west of the Gade Valley, and they reduced the number and height of the proposal for 17-metre sound stages.”
Ralph Trustees Limited have been contacted for comment.
