Volunteers are needed to ensure an ancient woodland in Chorleywood can continue welcoming visitors for generations to come.
The Woodland Trust has managed Philipshill Wood for several years with the help of local volunteers. The wood is teeming with wildlife, including owls, woodpeckers, badgers, muntjac deer, and various species of butterfly. The site also has a reputation for spectacular bluebell displays in the spring.
The volunteers meet on Wednesday mornings throughout the year and take part in various tasks such as helping to keep pathways accessible, removing invasive plants, and planting trees.
The trust is now seeking both working group leaders and members to contribute to the upkeep of the wood. An interest in conservation and woodlands is a must, and outdoor working experience is useful but not necessary as instructions will be given.
Volunteers will become part of a friendly group with shared aims and interests and have access to a range of training from the Woodland Trust.
