An organisation that trains volunteers to sing at the bedsides of people at their end of their lives is celebrating a special anniversary this year.
It has been 10 years since Companion Voices was founded, and three years since the establishment of a branch in Croxley.
Members come together to learn songs and share them with end-of-life patients. Founded by musician Judith Silver, singers now meet fortnightly at All Saints’ Church in Croxley Green.
Judith said: “People often say to me that singing completely changes the atmosphere of a room. It helps family and friends to feel connected to loved ones, even when they can no longer communicate.
“We’re not entertainers – and that’s an important distinction to make. We’re sharing songs for the benefit of other people, providing a service. We want to sound like loving friends and family.”
