The annual Ossie Boy’s Family Fun Day is making a momentous return later this month in memory of a late Garston resident.
Ossie was first diagnosed with the rare cancer neuroblastoma in July 2013, aged seven years old.
Before this, he led a very active and healthy life. He was scouted for Arsenal and Watford FC, and played for his beloved local football team, Everett Rovers.
After years of treatment and surgery, Ossie sadly passed away in May 2017.
In Ossie’s memory, his family and friends launched the Ossie Boy’s Fund to raise money for a new garden at Watford General Hospital and West Herts Hospitals Charity Raise.
This year’s annual Ossie Boys Family Fun Day will take place at Everett Rovers FC on Sunday, May 25. The day will feature fundraising activities including a men’s six-a-side football tournament, inflatables, and a men’s walking tournament.
Visitors can also enjoy live performances from artists, bands, dancers and local DJs, as well as a BBQ, auction, raffle and tombola.
Ossie’s mum Karly shared on social media: “We had an amazing year last year with fundraising and nearly doubled our yearly goal.
“We hope to achieve that again this year, again with all money we raise going towards Ossie’s gardens and we will then concentrate on the sponsorship of the garden, which is a further £70,000.”
