The Croxley Guild of Sport recently received a very generous donation furniture from West Herts Golf Club and are touched by the generosity.

West Herts Golf Club donated a selection of tables and chairs to the guild which following on from Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s announcement on Monday, February 22 will help the guild with reopening and welcoming back members.

Danny Dallas, captain of the cricket team based at the guild, said the golf club’s donation is extremely generous and highlights the community spirit in the village.

He said: “It was really nice of them to donate the furniture and the generosity they’ve shown, we at Croxley Guild of Sports can’t express our gratitude enough.

“It’s a really community spirit helping each other out. It saved us a huge expense, it’s a welcome breath of fresh air.”

Danny added that the new furniture will be a helping hand in welcoming back members safely and after employing a new bar manager and elected a new clubhouse committee, they can’t wait to see familiar faces again.

He said: “Since the announcement we’ve already had a torrent of bookings for birthdays and christenings.

“It’s been really refreshing that people are keen to get back. The plan is to work on the outside area as well and give it a big clean and potentially buy some new furniture for the outside and cater for as many people as possible.

“We can’t wait to welcome back old faces and have a proper face to face drink with people again.”

Danny also said that the teams can’t wait to be back playing again and as soon as they are allowed the guild will welcome them with open arms.

The old furniture from the guild has also been passed onto Rickmansworth Cricket Club, highlighting the community bond.
